Josina Lott Residential & Community Services is looking for volunteers to facilitate events or to sponsors to participate on teams with adults with intellectual disabilities in their eighth annual Lawn Games on July 11, 2009 from 9:30 am – 3:00pm. The event was created with two aims: to promote understanding of people with disabilities, and to allow people to participate in fun, competitive games no matter their ability level. Games such as bocce ball, the tandem bike/wheelchair obstacle course, putt-putt golf and the basketball shoot-out, are designed so that everyone can participate on an equal playing field. The day includes a picnic, silent auction, and music by The Dan & Don Show. Silent Auction items include a signed football by Tom Brady of The New England Patriots and a signed jersey from Vernon Gholston of the New York Jets.

Volunteering for Lawn Games is fun and a compassionate way to support individuals to reach their full potential in a short period of time. Many individuals with disabilities choose to participate in this event and most look forward to it all year long. It is a great way for our community to reach out to people with disabilities so that they feel a part of the community that they live in. The event will take place at the Josina Lott residential campus at 120 S. Holland-Sylvania Road.
